 The route starts in the north at the Quail Hill Trailhead, which also serves the Juanita Moe Trail. This paved path is located along the northern edge of the Quail Hill Preserve and links to other trails within the city.

 The best views of the surrounding hills can be seen from the point where the trail crosses Bommer Canyon. The Turtle Rock Trail offers an enjoyable tour through the neighborhood. At the trail’s end, you can turn right on the Bonita Canyon Trail to reach Irvine’s University High School. You can also opt to cross the road and turn left on the trail to reach the edge of Newport Beach.
